Abstract

This article analyzes the three international events that convened Latin American researchers on the topic of Science, Technology and Society (STS) in 1996, namely: the II Latin American Conference on Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESOCITE 96); the International Colloquium on Technological Learning, Innovation, and Industrial Policy; and the XIX Symposium on Management of Technological Innovation. From there, the paper seeks to provide elements to answer questions such as: What are the most used methodological approaches? Are there dominant disciplinary perspectives? What are the most dynamic areas? Which ones are stagnant? Which are the most active countries in the field? And which are the most prolific institutions?
