Abstract

The following article strives to: revise and standarize the conceptual framework that emerges from the literature, and from the empirical evidence available, related to the incidence of the globalization process on local innovation systems; identify implications in public policy issues that arise out of evidence gathered; and lastly, suggest a research agenda whose implementation, at the judgement of its authors, could shed light on the many unknowns that ari se from an authentic revision and, consequently, guide a more efficient policy design to support the innovative efforts of the local, regional systems.
