During Renaissance, Neoplatonic tradition assimilated this practice through an idealistic notion of knowledge which sought to reflect the true structure of the world into the human mind. This underlies the particular connection among words, images and things. In this intellectual frame, the present article tries to demonstrate that the use of images and affections linked with an oral conception of language were the conditions of possibility for the access to that kind of knowledge. The final consequence was an intimate alliance between the realm of art and the knowledge conceived as a non-analytical organization of the reality. Giulio Camillo theatro is mentioned as an example.
