Abstract

The present paper aims to show how the publication pressures have a crucial incidence on the structure of the scientific fields. This incidence operates not only as "target place" for the production of papers (and, in this sense, as the last step belonging the process of knowledge production) but it is also a crucial component of the production of knowledge itself. This occurs insofar the possibility of publishing, and even the existence of a Journal as a potentially recipient of the works, is present in the development of any research project, as it was shown by several empirical investigations in the sociology of science.
