In this work the author considers the relationship between technological identity and cultural identity as applied to Uruguays case. First of all, a brief review of previous studies on the same topic is presented, and a reflection on the content of the expression "technological identity"; is advanced. Secondly, the examination focus is shifted to the Uruguays case. The question is then raised, of whether a technological identity can exist without being taken up by the social imaginary, although derived from aspects of social identity. Lastly, the author reflects on the core of what she considers to be the Uruguayan technological identity: the ability to innovate in scarcity condition.
