Ethical code
Revista REDES will not publish contents which may be considered offensive or discriminatory.
Duties and responsibilities of the Board of Directors (BD)
- The BD is responsible for establishing and abiding by the academic and ethical criteria of the journal’s publications.
- The BD is responsible for upholding a policy of confidentiality regarding the manuscripts submitted for review. No information about the manuscripts shall be disclosed to people other than the authors, reviewers or members of the journal’s editorial board.
- Unpublished contents shall not be used by members of the journal for their own research purposes.
Responsibilities of reviewers
- Reviewers must contribute to the journal’s editorial decisions and meet the required deadlines.
- Any reviewer who deems him or herself unfit to review a submission, due to thematic concerns, conflicts of interest, or inability to complete the review in time, must notify the journal and excuse him or herself from the review process.
- Reviewers must abide by the journal’s confidentiality policy.
- Reviewers must use an objective and impersonal criterion for their reviews.
- Reviewers must clearly justify their decisions.
- Reviewers must notify the DC if they identify a significant similarity or overlap between a submission under consideration and any other published article they may be personally familiar with.
- The journal shall regularly publish in its webpage the list of reviewers for each published issue.
Responsibilities of authors
- In order to be published, manuscripts must be unpublished and contain no copyright violations.
- Fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements included in the submission are deemed unethical behavior and, thus, will not be accepted in the journal.
- Manuscripts must be original and properly attribute ideas and concepts by other authors.
- Submitting a single article to more than one journal is an unethical and, thus, unacceptable behavior. Authors are not allowed to resend their work to other publications while the review process is underway.
- The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors are included in the article and that they have accepted the article’s content and its submission to Revista REDES.
- Any conflict of interest which may affect the results or the manuscript’s interpretation must be reported.
- Should the author identify a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her work, he or she must notify the journal at once and work with the review to correct said error or the article.
Plagiarism policy
The BD is very strict as regards plagiarism. Should an author copy a phrase from a different person’s work, or even reuse a phrase of his or her own included in a previously published work, he or she shall be considered to have incurred in plagiarism. The BD reserves for itself the absolute authority to reject the review process of a manuscript submitted and including minor or major plagiarism, and may even cancel its publishing if the victim or victims of plagiarism report it.
Open access policy
Access to Revista REDES, both in terms of reading (file download) and of publishing by authors, is totally free. Revista REDES is a non-profit organization, and all of its resources are provided by the National University of Quilmes.
All the documents included in Revista REDES are published under a Creative Commons Argentina Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 license, and users are allowed to copy, use, disseminate, transmit and disclose said content, as long as the authors are mentioned and the content is republished under a CC Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license. Thus, the journal is clearly implementing the policies of the Open Access Initiative (OAI), in line with the principles of free access to and exchange of knowledge.
Repository policy
All documents included in Revista REDES are stored in the National University of Quilmes’ own servers. Moreover, all submissions are kept at the Digital Institutional Open Access Repository (https://ridaa.unq.edu.ar/), where they are assigned a persistent URL provided by Handle.
Copyright policy
Authors whose work is published in the journal agree to the following terms:
- Starting from the moment in which a submission is accepted for publication, it is understood that its author gives to REDES: Revista de Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología all rights to reproduce and distribute the article for use in all countries in the world, in a print journal format and in any other magnetic, optical or digital medium.
- Authors keep their copyright and provide the journal with the right to be the first to publish their work, which can also be shared by third-parties, as long as the author and the fact that it was first published in the journal are mentioned.
Authors are allowed and encouraged to share their work in social media, particularly those focused on conversations among the scientific community, with the goal of nurturing positive academic discussion and increasing the citation index.
