Abstract

To our knowledge, Clarence Irving Lewis's (1883-1964) Mind and the World-Order: Outline of a Theory of Knowledge (New York, Charles Scribner's, 1929, pp. XIV + 446) has not been translated into Spanish. The assessment of the importance of the theory of knowledge formulated there, and its strong impact on subsequent developments in the discipline, encourage us to present in our language one of the most relevant chapters of the aforementioned work, "The Nature of the A Priori, and the Pragmatic Element in Knowledge" (chapter VIII).
