Los desafíos de la ciencia frente a la crisis ambiental planetaria

Resumen

La crisis ambiental planetaria (CAP) es una crisis del conocimiento, que solo a partir de una superación epistemológica/ontológica de la ciencia, será posible desentramar como desafío para el futuro de la civilización. Se exponen las características fundamentales de esta crisis, a partir de sus dimensiones ecológica (perturbación de los ciclos biogeoquímicos del planeta), económica (la apropiación humana de la productividad primaria neta), energética (dependiente de los combustibles fósiles), productiva (insustentable e incapaz de erradicar el hambre), social (donde una minoría provoca una crisis que padecen las mayorías) y científica (anclada en una tradición reduccionista e instrumental, superada por la complejidad de la realidad). Se analiza y discute la ciencia normal (Kuhn) como patrón de conocimiento hegemónico de la civilización moderna contemporánea, para evidenciar sus limitaciones ante la complejidad, riesgos y urgencia que caracterizan a la CAP. Se discuten las críticas y argumentos de diversos autores y autoras, para evidenciar que la ciencia normal no está facultada epistemológicamente para enfrentar la CAP, sino que además está directamente comprometida en sus causas, procurando impulsar una reflexión hacia un patrón de conocimiento que no esté reñido con la vida.
